Behind the Scenes at LIV Golf Virginia: My Volunteer Experience
This past weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at the LIV Golf tournament held at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia. As someone who loves both golf and contributing to purposeful events, this experience hit the sweet spot between passion and community.
I was assigned to the Fan Services and ADA Shuttle Team, where our responsibilities included helping spectators with disabilities get to designated viewing areas, assisting with lost and found, and sharing tournament info with fans visiting the Fan Village. It was a hands-on role that gave me a front-row seat to the operational magic behind a world-class sporting event.
What stood out most?
The energy. The fans were excited, the players were engaged, and the whole team—from fellow volunteers to staff coordinators like Antoine and Emily—worked together like clockwork. Every shuttle ride or map handed out was a small connection that added to the overall experience for fans, and that was deeply rewarding.
My Takeaways:
Great events are built on details—and those details are driven by people who care.
Even in the background, you can be part of something big.
Volunteering is one of the most fulfilling ways to support a sport you love.
I’m also grateful for the new connections I made. I’m looking forward to staying involved—whether that means joining more LIV events or finding ways to contribute full-time.
Until next time, LIV. Thanks for letting me be part of something exciting.
P.S. To anyone thinking of volunteering for a pro sporting event: Do it. You’ll walk away with stories, smiles, and maybe even a few new friends (and golf buddies!).
